Mark Armfield – Founder and Chairman


Mark ArmfieldMark Armfield, CEO of Armfield Design and Construction and RainCatcher, has been involved with sustainable and green building since the 1980’s. Mark’s current projects include water management, bluff preservation, rainwater harvesting and catchment designs around the Malibu, California area.

Mark served three terms as president of the Malibu Association of Contractors and on behalf of this association he received the prestigious Malibu Dolphin award for outstanding achievement and goodwill for the community. As president, he and the Association built 18 charity projects, from new school parks and theaters to new classrooms. Mark is also the recipient of the Certificate of Congressional Recognition for outstanding and invaluable service to the community from the United States Congress, as well as numerous awards and recognition from the state of California.

Mark has also served as Director of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Government Affairs at the City of Malibu, a Member of the Malibu City Business Round table and a Member of the City of Malibu Sustainable Building Committee.

David Zielski – Executive Director


David Zielski - Executive Director of RainCatcherFrom the early age of 12, David worked with his father drafting for the family mechanical-engineering firm. His love of computers and building things led him to Boston in pursuit of a degree in electrical engineering. In the early 1990s, he used his knowledge of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering to help launch the first commercially available Caller ID product.

Driven by the growing environmental push in the 2000s, David and his wife started a company that manufactured and marketed all-natural products. Besides achieving national and international distribution, their products were used exclusively in a sustainable off-the-grid community in Taos, New Mexico where he gained first-hand expertise in sustainable energy and water systems. David’s interest was piqued and he continued to study sustainable living systems.

While back in school part-time for his MBA in Marketing, he met RainCatcher’s founder was captivated by how simple, effective and sustainable rainwater harvesting can be and the significant impact that can be made in the lives of many. His appreciation for the RainCatcher mission and his love of energy and water systems led him to get involved. With the RainCatcher team, he helps combine the ancient art of rainwater harvesting with today’s technology, providing sustainable, affordable sources of clean drinking water to people in need.

Laird Hamilton

Hutch Parker


Hutch Parker - RainCatcherHutch Parker is the former Chairman of New Regency Entertainment, an independent film and television studio in partnership with 20th Century Fox. He was previously Vice-Chairman of 20th Century Fox Filmed Entertainment where he oversaw the studio’s main film division, as well as the studio’s animation division, Blue Sky. He was born in New York and graduated from Princeton University in 1986, and currently lives with his wife, Rebecca and two daughters, in Malibu, California.

Darin Olien – Field Director


Darin Olien - Director of RainCatcherFor over 15 years, Darin has been a pioneer in the international business of superfood hunting. He has worked with indigenous populations on various agricultural and food initiatives. Darin’s travels have introduced him to some of the world’s most potent herbs and superfoods, which ultimately led to the creation of his company, Darin’s Naturals in 2005. His experiences at home and abroad have motivated him to work to improve the quality of life for individuals around the world. Darin is dedicated to the implementation of sustainable solutions to unnecessary suffering caused by lack of access to food, water, and energy.

Darin works with some of the world’s top environmental and health scientists, including United Nation advisors and NASA engineers . Over the last 5 years he has been involved in Atmospheric Water Generation, which provides clean drinking water by pulling water directly from the air’s humidity. As with most of his projects, Darin has been active in the entire development of Atmospheric Water Generation, from the redesigning of the technology in real-world applications, to the manufacturing and selling of the final product.

Darin is part of a massively connected, cohesive environmental network, whose membership ranges from the most remote indigenous farmers to the most acclaimed, international environmental experts. Darin’s strength as a member of the environmental community is his ability to provoke conscious thought and active solutions for environmental and health concerns worldwide. Darin believes that by disseminating information on how to catch and harvest clean water, we can make a vital improvement in the quality of life for people across the planet.

Lisa Slater


Lisa is a senior corporate communications and public relations executive with extensive experience in the public health arena. She currently manages external communications for Genentech, including corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Lisa holds a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and a Master of Arts from the University of Southern California.

A passionate advocate for humanitarian causes, Lisa and her husband Anthony traveled to Uganda in 2012 with RainCatcher.

Thomas Evoniuk


Thomas Evoniuk - DirectorThomas has over 15 years experience in rain catching projects by supervising the management of their design and construction. He is responsible for multimillion dollar management of large scale custom design construction and rainwater harvesting projects in and around the Malibu area. Celebrities and media moguls rely on Tom to take care of their project needs. His 18 years with the Hudson brothers as a recording engineer and performance artist have led to the completion of many successful projects.



Massimiliano Musina


Max Musina RainCatcherCurrently Massimiliano, Max for short, works as the VP of Sales for Vivienne Westwood. Born to an artisan father and a fashion designer mother in Florence, Italy, he started designing at the age of 21 for Enrico Coveri and soon after created his own brand “Massimiliano Musina”. Besides working with Vivienne Westwood, he has collaborated with many other fashion brands like Fendi, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. His passion is making unique objects and accessories with the most beautiful leathers and materials the world has to offer. Max works with buyers and high end fashion retailers plus participates in trade and trunk shows.


Chad Kahn


Chad, originally from San Antonio Texas, has been living in Los Angeles California for the last 5 years. He has 10 years experience in commercial construction building major grocery stores and strip centers throughout Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico and 5 years in residential construction, sustainable building and rainwater harvesting. Chad’s knowledge and experience in construction along with the desire to bring clean water to those who go with out provides great insight and direction for RainCatcher.
