Clean Water Challenge

RainCatcher Clean Water Challenge

The RainCatcher Clean Water Challenge aims to raise awareness and funding required to address the challenging water situation in impoverished regions around the world. By getting teams of college students together and encouraging them to explore and develop ways to raise money and awareness, we hope to engage the future leaders of this world and incubate some creativity in addressing and ultimately solving situational problems the world faces now and will face in the future. Each team will submit a video Public Service Announcement (PSA) and the teams efforts will be considered in three categories. We hope to use this competition as a tool to learn from others while having fun coming up with potential solutions for real-world problem facing more than 1 billion people today – access to clean safe water. There three categories in which awards will be given are:

1) Fundraising Award
This recognizes the top team in total amount of money raised during the competition.

2) Awareness Award
This recognizes the top team in total number of YouTube views of your video once we upload it to the RainCatcher video competition channel. Use of social media and other forms of engagement and promotion are encouraged and all views registered during the competition count.

3) Video Award
The Public Service Announcement (PSA) itself will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges based on a combination of several factors including: visual representation, emotion and use of media. The judges will narrow down the finalists selected by the RainCatcher Board of Directors. The judges will grade each video based on the required criteria and help select the winner.

The Prize

Each team will get the opportunity to send one team member to work with RainCatcher for two days in the Malibu, California office in July or August 2012. Their time with the RainCatcher team will include project-planning meetings, attending an official board meeting, dinner with the founder and management of RainCatcher, and their initiation and preparation to be an official spokesperson of RainCatcher for the remainder of 2012.

How To Enter

1) Teams consist of college students representing one particular college or university. The Teams may represent a “sub-group” of the school, like a club, fraternity, sports team, etc. and there may be more than one competing team per college or university.

2) Each team must create an online RainCatcher Clean Water Ambassador page. Once the page has been established and shared on at least one social network, a welcome message will be sent to the email address used to register the page. The complete rules and regulations of the Clean Water Challenge will be emailed at the beginning of the competition. You can begin fundraising immediately and all money raised on the page will count toward your competition for the Fundraising Award.

3) On the official start date of the Clean Water challenge, RainCatcher will send an email with the requirements for the Public Service Announcement (PSA) to the email address used to register the team’s Clean Water Ambassador page. It will contain all the parameters of the competition, including, but not limited to: the dates for all milestones; mission requirements; RainCatcher graphics you are permitted to use; specific details of the judging criteria, and instructions on submitting your PSA for consideration.
